The 2025 edition of the EOSC-related projects coordination meeting, organised by the European Commission in collaboration with the EOSC Association and the Research Executive Agency (REA), is taking place this week in Brussels.
This annual event brings together representatives from projects funded under Horizon Europe that contribute to the development and implementation of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). With 33 projects participating, the 2025 meeting marks an important moment of exchange and alignment across the EOSC landscape.
EOSC is currently entering a new phase, transitioning from planning and preparation into an operational, federated infrastructure. In this context, the meeting’s objectives are to:
-
strengthen collaboration among project consortia and key EOSC stakeholders;
-
update on contributions to the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA);
-
discuss progress and challenges related to the EOSC Federation build-up phase.
Skills4EOSC, represented by the coordinators Sara Di Giorgio and Claudio Prandoni, actively contributed to the discussions, sharing insights from the project’s achievements and legacy. As the project nears completion, Skills4EOSC leaves a solid foundation for future actions: a Network of Competence Centres for Open Science and EOSC, designed to sustain results and promote their uptake across scientific communities and beyond.
This meeting is not only a coordination exercise, it also highlights the crucial role of training and skills development in enabling FAIR data practices and building the European Open Science Cloud. Equipping researchers and support staff with the right competences is essential to ensure that EOSC becomes a truly operational and sustainable infrastructure.
