The final conference of the Skills4EOSC project, "Building Capacity for Open Science", took place on 11 June 2025 at Campus Condorcet in Paris. From the opening messages by representatives of the European Commission and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research to discussions on training strategies, emerging professional roles, and sustainability of Competence Centres, the day showcased the progress made over the past three years and the work that lies ahead.

Speakers, including Javier Lopez-Albacete, Suzanne Dumouchel, and Volker Beckmann, highlighted how EOSC is not only a technical infrastructure but a true European policy vision — and that its success depends on empowered professionals, robust training systems, and active communities.

🔍 The conference was also an opportunity to present the main results of Skills4EOSC, including:

  • The design and testing of training programmes, tailored to different target groups and contexts, are integrated into a shared eLearning platform.

  • The development of the Minimum Viable Skillset (MVS) approach, a modular, flexible framework for training professionals in key roles, such as data stewards, policy-makers, and support staff.

  • The establishment of a sustainable Competence Centre Network (CCNet) that will continue to operate beyond the project’s lifetime.

This shared momentum reinforces a key message: skills and collaboration among Competence Centres are essential to the development of EOSC and key to unlocking its full capacity-building potential.
